Before painting, place 3/32″ silicone rubber caps over the eyelets. These keep paint off the hook eye; at high temperatures.

• In the guard hole, put 1/8″ (size based on hole, check your fiber guard size) Teflon base pins to stop paint from entering.
  
  Paint your jigs: After your jigs cure in the oven, remove the Teflon tubing and silicone caps. Now attach your weed guard; never apply heat to the delicate fiber guard.
  
   If you must paint with the weed guard attached, place specially made heat-resistant tubing over the guard before applying heat.
   These will do the trick for hook eyes at 3/32″ ID.
